Once upon a time Paris had the World's most beautiful foodmarket
Les Halles Centrales, in the heart of 75001,
the first Arrondissement of Paris.

Halles CentralesNapoléon I (1769 - 1821) had the project to renovate the historic Les Halles foodmarket,
but he did not have the time to accomplish the project.
The market was finally renovated under the reign of his nephew Napoléon III.


Halles Centrales The beauty of the foodmarket was imagined
by Empress Eugenie / Eugenie de Montijo (1826 - 1920)
and the architect Victor Baltard (1805 - 1874)

In the 1960s the market had become too small
and it was decided to open a new market in Rungis.
1969 the market that had been in the center of Paris for centuries left.

The Pavillons could have been saved,
but sadly 1971 Marcel Diebolt (1912 - 2002), Prefet de Paris at that time
was corrupt and gave the permission to destory them.
